Join the West Peace Aviation Association at the DeBolt Air Strip on July 6 & 7, 2024, for a fantastic family viewing event!

  • When: July 6, 2024 (alternate rain date is July 7th)
  • Time: 10:00 am – 3:00 pm each day
  • Where: DeBolt Air Stip (will add address/directions)

Events include:

Precision takeoff and landing

Each pilot must declare their takeoff and landing roll distances before their flight. Then, each participating pilot will fly 3 standard circuits, attempting to land and come to a complete stop, then take off again within their declared distances. Scoring is based on actual distances vs. declared as well as touching down on a designated touch down spot. Only one aircraft will be in the circuit at a time for this event. The grass runway will have painted markings in the grass for reference. 3 judges will be used alongside the runway for distance measuring.

Flour Bombing Event

Each flour bomb used will be 1 lb of flour in a paper bag. Each aircraft will have a pilot and a bombardier. Each aircraft will be taking off and flying a normal circuit pattern. The first pass over the target area will be no lower than 300 feet at a speed no lower than Vso X 1.5 to inspect the target area. The target area will be along the north side of the runway. All aircraft will monitor the event’s frequency. We will have 3 judges on the south side of the runway during the target runs to monitor accuracy, and we may utilize remote camera systems to help mark target drops.
